We, the congregation of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, joyfully declare ourselves to be Open and Affirming. Knowing we are all created in the image of God, we further declare that with divine grace we recognize, celebrate and give thanks for the diversity for all God’s gift among us.
We proclaim the sacred worth and dignity of all persons regardless or sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression, age, race, ethnicity, mental and physical ability, education, faith background, economic or marital status.

Wisdom Table is a place of healing, spiritual authenticity, inclusivity, and theological exploration. We strive to be a church of great hospitality. Upon your visit you will encounter people from all walks of life ready to welcome you into our family. When you enter the church please let our host know you are a first time visitor. They will be glad to assist you and answer any questions you might have.
After church, we invite you downstairs in our social hall for “Wisdom’s Round Table.” As we share refreshments, we take 30 to 45 minutes to share with one another how we are experiencing the Holy Spirit in our personal and communal activities. We reflect on things we’ve experienced together – the day’s sermon and worship, recent service/outreach projects or social gatherings. And we share how we’ve encountered God (or Jesus or the Spirit or the Divine or “Something with a capital ‘S’”) in those various activities. We ask and answer questions like “What are important things we have notice happening -inside us or the community?” and “How might God be calling us to respond?”
When you visit our church you will be welcomed and meet new friends from various experiences. To take a step toward faith with our church, give us a call today!
We believe “traditional” and “progressive” actually go well together when it comes to “being church.” Our worship is patterned after the ancient service of worship (called “liturgy”) that has been with the Christian church from pretty much the beginning. But we’re also progressive!
Here are some of the ways we do that:
In addition to “traditional” Christian language, we regularly use new and unusual imagery, poetic language and provocative metaphors for God that expand our theological imaginations.
We often include innovate artistic elements in our worship experience.
We sing a wide diversity of music at Wisdom’s Table, and we are always seeking to expand our musical diversity even wider.
In the midst of our highly structured services, we regularly have opportunities for spontaneity. Allowing for spontaneity and encouraging individual forms of expression allow us to be open to fresh movements of the Spirit in our lives and in our community.
Parking is available along Buchanan Avenue and College Avenue. If you park on Buchanan Avenue, please be sure to follow parking signs to avoid any parking tickets or towing. Handicapped parking is available directly in front of the church on Buchanan Avenue on Sunday mornings only.
Children are welcome to join parents in our main worship service. We have Worship bags with activity flyers for Tots and Elementary age children. Children are welcome to participate in all aspects of church life including communion. We have a nursery care every Sunday from 10:40 to 12:30 for ages 0-4yrs. Sunday School is offered at 11:00am – 12:30 for ages 5-8.
There are no dress requirements for attending Wisdom’s Table. Some of us show up in jeans and t-shirts, others are dressed up and some of us wear something in between.
